While doing my morning piano practice today, I played a “wrong” note while practicing the G major scale. I really liked the wrong note and built a scale around it. The end result was G (1) A(2) B(3) C(4) C#(#4) D(5) F (b7) and G (8). I quick internet search indicated that the closest fit to the invented scale was a G Lydian flat 7 scale. ( the only difference is I left in the natural 4). Instead of following the theory I just played the scale over different chords and had a lot of fun. So far I have tried various combinations of G major and D,A,E, minor 6 and 9 chords. However, if you want to start down the music theory rabbit hole here it is,,,,
